Figure I would start a thread on my mis treated Bullitt. Bought it in very rough shape, chassis and paint wise. The "story" I got from the seller was that it was his brothers, and he hit a curb in a parking lot. The car was checked out by a frame shop, and they said the frame was straight. The K-Member on the other hand was bent back and up into the oil pan. The steering rack bolts were bent up which made me drop the complete subframe (Arms/Rack) as one because I couldn't get the front control arm bolts out because the rack was jammed into the K. While dropping it I decided to fix the leaking oil filter adapter and throw a new oil pan gasket to check for debris. Of course, found a chunk of plastic (at least it is just one piece) and so I added timing chains to my to do list. After looking around the engine bay also now assume it had nitrous (injector wires taped into, MAF also tapped with a green light and switch panel in center counsel and an extra hole in the intake tube.)
It is missing the passenger side lower trim panel and door handle as well as the front bumper being a replacement. But I bought it cheap and knew I was going to have to wrench on it. The paint is the biggest issue that I don't have previous experience working on, but this is not going to be a show car. It will be a daily and occasional track car.
As soon as I got it home, I started ordering parts. QA1 K-Member, BMR A-Arms, reman steering rack, Koni single adjustable struts, Maximum coil over kit and CC plates, overflow tank, door handle, etc. Since I now had two projects, the Bullitt got put on the wait list as I was building my track car (03 GT). With the AZ heat fast approaching, I decided to do a blitz parts install and get her road worthy. Finished the K install over the weekend, installed new rear shocks, overflow tank, rack/tire rods, motor mounts, oil filter adapter/oil pan gaskets, rear differential reseal and new fluid, CC Plates, Koni Struts 300lbs springs and cleaned the rust off the front rotors.
Still to do are the timing chains/guides, brake fluid flush, trans fluid flush, burp cooling system and other odds and ends.
