So in my want to customize I came across the hood struts on American muscle as an open box. For $45 I figured why not

I have really tried to be careful when bolting and unbolting items on this vehicle as I know she's 21 years old however I let my aggression get to me while bolting the strut on and tighten the nut too far.

As one could guess the bolt broke off. Now I'm at a loss of what I'm supposed to do

Suggestions on how to fix this. Is it something that might be simply fixed or is this going to cost me a lot?

there looks to be enough to be able to grab it with some plyers. Otherwise if you know a welder, weld a nut to it and then it will come right out.

I don't know if this is something that can be extracted. I think it's a stud coming from a plate between the hood. Or do those studs screw out?

So we were able to fix it today. I did not take photos of the process, but should this happen to anyone in the future.

There was enough of the broken stud that we hooked a pair of vice grips to it (very tightly) and was able to carefully wiggle in all directions until the stud pulled out.

Then we found a bolt in my random collection of nuts and bolts, and went to the Advance and got a tap.

We tapped threads thru the hole and had to drill out the hinge a little for the size of the bolt.

Once done we added a little glue to the threads and were able to screw the hinge back in place.

Oh they don't. We had to break it by twisting and bending. But it seems they are just pressed into the plate, not welded
