Don't waste your money by going to Autozone or any place like that. Get the Porter Cable 7424. Here is the cheapest place I found on the intraweb and it is where I bought mine and I had no problems with them. Clickity Click Its super easy to use and the results are very professional. So with that buffer, you will need professional compounds. I use Meguiars Professional line, but other popular brands are Poorboys, Zaino, and others. Usually costs between $10 and $20 depending on which compound. I hope that helps a little. :)

ive been looking at the pc 7428 ..or do you all think the pc 7424 has enough speed to dig deep enough to remove bird crap stain and water spots with rubbing compound. i like the idea of the random oprbital of the 7424 ,i also like the high speed of the 7428..im kinda stuck here :dunno:

The 7424 is dummy proof you can't damage your paint as long as you have common sense. With the right pads and product the 7424 will do wonders....

The only problem with the higher speed is that higher speed creates higher temps because of the friction. Believe me when I say this, the 7424 will spin PLENTY fast enough.

6" Variable-Speed Random-Orbit Polisher 7424 2,500-6,000 RPM
Variable-Speed Random-Orbit Sander (6") with Polishing Pad 7336SP 2,500-6,000 RPM
7" Variable-Speed Polisher 7428 1,000-3,000 RPM

the 7428 is the slowest of the group. anyone have or used the 7336? is there a difference in the 7336 and the 7424?

A few guys have one over on SVT. I've never heard of any advantages/disadvantages between the two.

orbital polishers wont swirl your paint. they are used especially to remove high speed buffer swirls. i dont own the porter-cable yet but im looking into getting one. i need something durable enough to handle buffing everyday. anyone know how durable the PC 7424 is? i dont want to have to buy a new one in 3-4 months.

It's a night and day difference, it's kinda heavy, you can tell it has a good motor.
I'm looking for things to buff.

I buffed my wakeboard yesterday!
