I am about o change out the timing chains on my 97 mustang (already has PI swap ) . I was wondering if I need to change out the cam and crank gears or just the chains , guides and tensioners ? The PI engine I have is from a Crown Vic so I was going to put some 2003 Mustang cams that I bought also . Any pointers on doing those ? Thanks in advance for your help .

Tensioner and guides are the only thing that fail. Cams are the same as far as I know. Bolts aren't reusable

Thanks for the info . I was told by someone that the cams were different . I guess I can resale the ones I bought , and the other set of PI heads with them .

Yea just change out the guides but keep the stock chains especially when installing aftermarket cams. I say this because the chains are pretty much stretched out unlike new chains to be broken in and stretching allowing cam altered degreeing. Ford made you good components
