Hi,

Longtime member here, rare poster. I have found this to be one of the last remaining forums that seems to operate and feel like a forum of the old days. I spend a lot of time here searching old threads for ideas and answers.

I have owned a few SN95's and New Edges over the years, and even an S197 that I had for over 10 years. I always go back to the SN95 as my favorite. My first Mustang was a 95 GT I got in 1998 when I was 17 so I'm sure that has a lot to do with my fondness for them.

Fast fwd to 2024. My Cobra is "done" for all intents and purposes. I have a 16 year old daughter that would like something to drive around town in, and an 11 year old son with an interest in learning and a desperate desire to go on "Hot Rod Power Tour" again(we have done it before)

So the search began, for a Fox Body or New Edge actually. In the mid-atlantic it is very challenging to find one without rusted towers. On a whim one day I hopped on "Autotrader" and found a Yellow 94 GT about 4 hours away. The pictures were not great, and the transmission was wrong. But it looked good enough, the color is awesome, and it was a 1-owner car. I asked a few questions, prayed the strut towers were intact, and negotiated a price.

You never know what you are going to get when you buy a car sight unseen and with out a test drive. Fortunately the car was in at least the condition I expected and maybe even a little bit better. All original panels and the only repainted panel was the hood. A few door dings down both sides, and a small hole in the driver seat. Gave the car a quick once over and that was that! Drive home went OK, car felt solid and slow. AODE ok for the most part but jumped out of overdrive a few times(neutral safety switch not happy) Overall pleased with the purchase.

First order of business a new odo gear and white faces for the gauges. Immediately regretted the white faces as they arrived scratched and they overhang into the turn signal area. NOS ebay find. Already bought another cluster to swap in if they continue to bother me.

Next up the car got paintless dent repair and I clayed, compounded, polished, and waxed it. Car had road tar down both sides. Took about 3 weeks of working on it intermittently. Also put newer rocker caps on the front as I prefer them(built in splash/rock guard)

She cleaned up nicely:

Next up an underhood clean and a full undercarriage power wash with a water broom- previous owner had a long gravel driveway- check out the sludge that came out from under the back! It's a miracle the car isn't rusty:

That is about it for now, I have accumulated the following parts:
Suspension- Bilsteins, H&R sports, MM cc plates
Brakes- Cobra calipers, stoptech rotors, stainless lines, new stock replacement elsewhere
Exhaust- Hedman x-pipe(no cats) Pypes "bomb" cat back(first non Flowmaster ever!!)
Wheels- 17x9 Silver Cobra R that I had laying around. New Nitto 275/40 ready to go on.

ISO- Cobra upper and lower intake, shorty headers

Not going to get into heads and cam. If we keep it maybe a Coyote swap down the road.

Updates soon!

Sick car I love the yellow sn95s. Nice rocker cap mod. I debated which style to use on my 94 but ended up keeping the original ones. It looks really good! Looking forward to seeing the progress of your build!

yellow has never been my favorite color and yet when I see a yellow sn the only thought I have is I like it.
Yellow Is a crazy color that the more I am around it the more I love it. It's a love hate color like electric green, or orange, Gold. Copper etc.

that is about the same with me in fact I almost said the same about orange. Again not my favorite color, I have one yellow shirt I pull out on occasion but no orange ones but when I see a competition orange mustang I am so down....

Post up about the install of the cat-less Hedman X pipe. Like to know about fit, finish, and sound. Thanks!
Will do! They still have them on clearance on their website. It appears to be well made but is multiple pieces. I will probably just use band style clamps on the "X" portion for now but may weld it later.

Nice car, the yellow on these is always awesome.

The Hot Rod Power Tour is a good time, but I feel like it's lost some of the magic over the last few years. I've long hauled 5 or 6 times now.

Yeah, I expect it to be different this year without any of the MotorTrend TV Celebs- that may improve it tho? It is really just about hanging with my family and friends for me. I don't really care much what they have going on at the venue.

A drag and drive event as a spectator may take place of HRPT... we'll see!

I enjoyed it back in the day when the vendors seemed to care about what they were bringing and just enjoying other car people. That has sorta died out after Covid.

We’ve talked about doing something different because like you said, it’s all about riding around with friends. We’ve tosssd around the idea of taking a week to cruise some shitboxes to the Grand Canyon or something but we’ll see.

Gave up on finding used headers and bought some new BBK's. They look OK but I think I liked them better back in the day when they were chrome. May clean up the welds just for fun. At least the box said "Made in USA"

yea that weld doesn't look as good as the one I had years ago. The chrome was nice but it never lasted. I ended swapping them out for some ceramic coated JBA's that have held up nice.
