Center console

Started getting dark on me but how the heck does the center console come out I have a 96 GT I seem the 2 screws bbehind shifter cover but what holds the back part in

In the armrest, theres a few black plugs on top, pull those out. They look like small squares. There is screws underneath, take those out. Remove the whole tray from inside the armrest, theres a few bolts in there.

I just pulled mine out of my 98 today. Open the console cover, at the front of the compartment are 2 rubber bumpers.

Pull out the bumpers and take out the two screws underneath.

The compartment will lift out enough to unplug the power outlet inside.

After you remove the compartment you will see 2 bolts holding the rear of the console to the floor.

Remove the 2 bolts, you can use a 7mm socket or a T20 torx.

I pull the hand brake handle up as much as I can so the boot will clear.

Slide the console back far enough to disengage the front and lift it up toward the dash.

Slide the console forward and up until the E brake boot clears the handle and you are done.
