Hello everyone! Just puchased a 1996 GT Convertible, Opal Frost, automatic and several other options. Only 85,110 miles. I am the third owner. Just finished cleaning the exterior. The seats are white leather and we plan to replace both front seats soon. Car is in extremely good condition. PO invested over $11,000 in getting things right! We are very fortunate. Tomorrow morning it will have ceramic tinted windows. Wednesday I will replace the fuel filter. Car runs beautifully and handles admirably. On this forum to learn and share experiences! I owned a 1965 hardtop Mustang, 3 speed on the floor, 6 cylinder, radio. Also restored a 1958 Jaguar XK 150, FHC, RHD. I enjoy the people as much as the cars!

Welcome. Nice ride and rare. 4300 and change produced in 96. You say it has a white gut. Going by that and your pic with the white top ill assume its an oreo gutted opal making it ultra rare. Good luck with it.

thank you 95Opal
it has a white leather interior with contrasting black doors and floors! PO installed a very good Kenwood radio that has so many features it scares me. You are correct about the low number of Opal Frost GT verts. Being rare does not worry me at all. Hope you are enjoying a beautiful day and stay in touch!
BTW where are you located?

Golly, FBR...you have a tricked out Pony! Thank you for your comments and sharing your list of "tricks"! It amazes me how each of us envision our Mustangs.
Thank you! Keep your page up to date. Love to see the progression of other forum members

Tomorrow, we have a date at the Ford dealer to replace the fuel filter, change oil and filter. I am also getting a non-blocking gas cap! Can't stand those things! PO lived in a metro area and claimed that they were necessary! Oh, well. I want Ford to eyeball the suspension. I suspect that I will be doing some work on shocks, springs and bushings. Gotta spend your time and money on something! Right?

Okay Fastball...Daily notes! Today, I took Opal to the local Ford dealer. Got a new Ford gas cap! I threw away the locking gas cap the PO used. Had them install new fuel filter, change oil and filter. I use 5W20 synthetic BTW. Dealer did the full inspection and Opal came in with a terrific inspection! Only issue is a minor oil leak from oil pan gasket. PO had already told me about it and I have seen zero drops on garage floor. Probably a service tech did not get all of the old gasket off...we all know what results. So, very pleased with the inspection info.
Considering installing WHITE face gauges!
Probably new springs, shocks and urethane bushings.
We established a budget for Opal of $300 per month for upgrades.

we took the GT for a nice drive yesterday and enjoyed a great Italian dinner. The car drives and responds well. Ran some injector cleaner through her. I'm a nut about fuel additives! I am 99% certain that I will replace the black gauges. Any thoughts, suggestions, hints or warnings are greatly appreciated.

Yes, 95opal, it has white leather seats with black trim. "Oreo gutted Opal". I will try to send you a picture of the interior.

Stunning look. Never seen a Mustang in this color ever before (maybe in '64?), but with the white interior... niiiice. I still like the 94-98's interior over most other. Just a great cockpit feel and the contrast of white and black enhances that.

Yes, we were very happy to get this car. If I posted the invoices from the PO, most would say that I was faking it. LOL. To be honest, we are going to replace both front leather seats around the first of the year.

Save those stock seats they are worth some coin.

You are right about saving the stock seats 95opal...we plan to have a local shop rebuild the stock seats. Thinking about Connoly Brothers leather. Costs more but their appearance and quality is hard to match. I just used some Jay Leno leather conditioner on the GT. It turned out excellent IMO.
