I was coming home from a trip today and it drove like a dream all the way there
On the way back close to home i noticed a quick clunk type of noise under the shifter when i pressed the clutch in to downshift
It happens before i shift into all gears only when i press the clutch in and its quick and i can feel and hear it under the shifter?
Clutch cable? Throw out bearing?
I tried pressing the clutch pedal down while the car was off to see if maybe it was the cable linkage and i didnt hear any noise.
I know something happened because it only just started to do that when i was close to home. Just hope i dont have to tear the tranny out because it already needs to be rebuilt or replaced and i dont have much more money i can keep throwing into the car .

My pilot bearing & throw out bearing had me removing the tranny to replace all that. But the shift fork was mangled also, and not supporting the cable where it should have. It was most of my problem. Just dig around, you’ll find it.

The noise you're hearing sounds like it could be related to a problem in the clutch system, most likely the release bearing or transmission linkage. If you're on a budget, start by checking items that can be repaired or replaced inexpensively (like the linkage or clutch cable), but be prepared for a more expensive release bearing replacement if necessary.
