Hello my name is cam, I'm new to this forum, I drive a 96gt with 128,000km 3.27 gears, under drives, bbk cai,bbk 75mm tb, power products plenum, short throw im having a set of npi heads race ported by my buddie that owns an engine building machine shop, I wanna go big cams, has anyone used comp stage 2s or the 2.5s without valve reliefs? What cams do you run? Was wondering what kinda hp it'll make to the wheels? thanks in afvance
Npi heads? Hey....youll be fine with no reliefs. Even if you deck the heads or block .050" youll still be fine. Loads more room than pi heads. Grab a set of 1.840 intake valves and have your machinist guy install them, then port the heads.
Wish I could contribute other than saying take 96blak54 's word for gospel when it comes to 2v head and cam recommendations
Yes, a mild cam with stated gears will be good. Im more of a spec guy and would rather talk numbers, but to simplify the 270comp will be a bit over kill for the gear youre running. In all honesty, the pi cams are great cams.
Well I'm thinking of blower in the future.. Like next winter, how would blower cams work with no blower but tuned, or is the option just to replace the 270s for blower cams when I do it? Sounds pricey. I'm also going with a 4:10 set up with edelbrock intake
Sticking with the stock intake will be more beneficial only because of runner length. If you decide a complete rebuild, then I can see an edelbrock intake benefit. Any cam will run n/a. Utilizing the cams purpose will further potential, but yea...any cam will run n/a.
