Is this the best test done to tell if yer engine is worth Modding? Can someone tell me whats done? How much does it cost?
A compression test is just that. They pull the spark plugs one at a time, or all don't matter. install the compression gauge in the spark plug hole. Then crank the engine. Record the reading and repeat for each cylinder. The goal is to be within a couple pounds of each other.
You can do it yourself Foster. Go to autozone and get a compression tester. It screws into your plug hole and has a gauge on it. Unplug your coil and turn the motor over. If i remember right you need one guy to watch the gauge and one guy to turn the engine. Write down the numbers for each cylinder. They should all be fairly close.
some people say to some people dont. but as long as you keep it the same all the way thru testing it shouldn't matter. cause as long as it's within 10% of eachother your engine is fine. also if you're going to do that, just unplug your fuel pump fuse, so you won't be flooding your engine while cranking it over.
