Convertible top down for long periods?

I have a1997 gt vert.it is only driven on nice days and is garaged when not in use .i leave my top down and have a boot on always due to it being garaged and I cover the car with a car cover when it in the garage .the top will be put up for winter storage or if I get caught in the rain.question is .is it OK to leave the top down for long periods ?.thanks

I pretty much never put the top up on my 96 when I had it. As long as the top is clean and dry when you put it down there shouldn't be an issues.

Top should be up anytime the car is put away as it will shrink with temperature variations.
