Re: STROKER ENGINE BUILD --update-- rotating parts are here!

So far about 4K
the rotating parts, hone and assembly, sump pan, high vol pickup, electric WP and new pulleys, few other bits.
After that I get into the Tranny / clutch swap! I'm looking at 3.5K on that!!!

I've waited a long time, family, job, money ect. so It's exciting to finally do it.

Thats awesome Dal. Same way for me I know im only doing the P.I. set up but it took me awhile to save up for it. I did some extra's too for the long. Your post about the PI setup is what made me do it. So I figured porting and polishing it now wouldn't just give me more power but would bes to do it now since I had the money. After my tune and I get close to 300 at the wheels I will save up for a Super Charger. Its going to be really fun and I can't wait.

Re: STROKER ENGINE BUILD --update-- rotating parts are here!

Picked up the longblock today!!

The machine shop took 1 week to hone it - they were busy, but hey, I've waited for everything else, so bring it!

Cute little electric WP up front there. I'm gonna wire it on a relay so I can turn it on at the track or whatever when I wanna keep it cooler ;)

Recap - Dished stroker pistons, 9:1 compression.
Manley rods, ARP bolts, High Volume hardened oil pump, deep sump pickup :) :)

GUESS WHAT I'M DOING THIS WEEKEND!!!

I've gotta go get the Radiator, dampner and flywheel stuff tomorrow,
More pics forthcoming. ;)

Awsome project man, can't wait to see the final results. My car has 126,000 miles on her so I'm getting ready to do something, just don't know yet. Just one ? why are you keeping the old exhaust manifolds instead of going with headers?

Thanks Suthrn - the POS looking stock manifolds actually flow pretty good. there's little gain with hedders NA.
the MAIN reason is because the turbo kit will replace all the exhaust to the catback when I do it. :)

Yes it does! :bunny3:

Got the motor in the car, cleand up some and had some parts issues... Didn't get as much done as I wanted

noradiator.jpg

wrongradiator.jpg

pulled out the radiator and all that, went to put the new one in, and hey it doesn't fit!
as cool as that thing looks, it's the wrong radiator, so I gotta get it swapped out for the correct one...

I'd just like to point out that most PARTS GUYS SUCK!!!
I swear it's about 50% of the time you get the wrong part (except from Maximum motorsports)

Also have a question about the oil sensor in the new pan, so I didn't wanna get too much bolted onto it, and have to take it out monday.
But hey it beats waiting for parts.

Re: STROKER ENGINE BUILD --update-- Longblock is Assembled

Thanks guys.
I'm glad you're enjoying it.

I'm stuck here in the office preparing for a big presentation, I hope I get to the garage later tonight!!

Keep us posted :)

I'm expecting to put down about 300 NA to the wheels.
It will be strong enough to put down 900! and that's just awsome.

Next is the tranny - I'll be converting to a TKO 600 :)
and I've ordered a Nitrous kit for it to run until I can afford to get the Turbo kit.
then it will be a nice top end shot, and intercooler chiller!!

Here's the Nos kit I went with... I got no responses in the Nos forum here - so shame on you guys!!

I'm messing around with what to do on the switches and gauges.

Gotta go to Vegas tomorrow (for work)
I'm hoping to have the engine all together by the weekend.

Re: STROKER ENGINE BUILD --update-- Longblock is Assembled

Well, I had a total of 1 night to work on it this week.
and the intake bolts got left at the builders, so I had about 1 hr turning ratchet, and 1 hr looking for stuff.

Here's some quick pix.
