I have a 97 Mustang GT Convertible that has a bad dash. There are two nice ones at the local junk yard. One is in a 97 and the other is a 98, both are coupes. The 98 is nicer and I would prefer to use that one. Is the 98 dash identical and will it work? There are a lot of wires and connectors on the dash, I am worried they may have changed something from 97 to 98.

The dash is physically the same, but the wiring harnesses are not. You can pull the 98 dash and swap your 97 wiring in to it and be just fine.

What's different from 97 to 98?
Most of the wiring. The ecu pin out is different, the fuel system wiring is different, and I think the gauge cluster wiring is different.

I had no idea. I thought 96-98 were all the same. New day, new learning opportunity.
