Diff question... compatibility?

If I were to gut a 2005 rear end, would it install into my 96 rear axle? I believe they have 31 splines.

My diff is leaking from the wheel - seal might be gone; don't know, as I had someone else install the 410s.

Any help is always appreciated. Thank-you...

The diff carrier should swap over no problem. I don’t believe the axles will work due to length differences. You’ll have to get 31 spline axles for your housing.

My 98 has a 2007 GT500 differential in it. The gears/diff should be good to go. Only real difference I know of is the diff cover is more shallow on the s197 (to clear the panhard bar maybe?)

I can't comment on the axles, but I doubt they work.
