We have facelifted SN95s called New Edges, we have pre-facelifted Foxbodys called Four-eyes but are there nicknames for the pre or post facelift S550s or S197s?

I would say no because I am a firm believer that you do not get to pick your nick-names and that is exactly what most people do is just pick one. Now I say that because when I was 18 and my mother traded in her 86 ford tempo for the 94 I am now driving a friend of mine from high school coined the name "momstang" and well it stuck. I was not so hot on the name at the time but it was what it was...

I don’t think he’s asking about personal cars nicknames. [emoji1787]

As to the names for the body styles you mentioned, the letter/number is it’s nickname. The fox’s were called that due to being designed by Mr. Fox himself. The Sn-95 means Specialty North #95 cause it’s the specialty division of north americas 95th project. The new edge was called that cause it’s still a sn95 but with a newer edgier body.

Every time they come out with a new body it’s given either a name or code by ford. They do this with all cars.

I’m so thankful “pimpmobile” didn’t stick. I understand that in high school there were more bitches in the car than seat belts, but it was mostly due to the interior. Every time someone online calls it “porno red,” I have a flashback to those innocent days.

What I dislike is how suddenly SN-95s are JUST 94-98s, with 99-04s only being New Edges. They’re both SN95s. A new edge is an SN95, and a round body mustang is an SN95. We have nicknames to differentiate between the two.

Sometimes people refer to the 10-14 S197s as second gen s197s. S550s, though, I haven’t heard them called anything except 18+.

What’s wrong with calling them pre or post facelift S197s? Why is that hard for people?

Must be different for motorcycles ‘cuz I’ve always come up with a nickname for my scoots after bonding with it and learning its nuances. Example: one of my riding buddies had a black Victory Vision (HUGE touring bike). He nicknamed it The BarcaLounger because it was the size of a recliner and his wife could easily fall asleep on the back or it!
But that’s 2 wheels, not 4... so different rules surely apply!

Spend that much time with something like that between your legs, and you’re bound to bond to it more differently that you would, say, a refrigerator.

As for personal nicknames for your own mustang, people seriously need to stop naming theirs Sally or Eleanor. It’s not clever, it’s not cute, and I think one even has an estate that will go after you. They have even seized owners vehicles!

Oh I know what you mean!!! The first one I had, the black 94 GT I actually named your screen name! Then I saw your name, and I thought well shit.. I can't call it that any more.. but the 90 LX I've got now I call Cherry Bomb.. cause the body on it really is Cherry, but under the hood.. looks like a Bomb went off... Eh??

Hmmm. Gets me to thinking, “what could I possibly name mine”?
Oh, snap! How about something outrageously clever like Black Mamba or Black Snake Moan? Yeah, no one would see THAT coming!

What’s sad is that I’m old school. Had my 94 since 98, even had MLP toys in the 80s. Been using this screen name in car forums since 2002. So there were no bronies yet. Hasbro hasn’t even put out the ugly 2005 reboot yet.

Personally to me giving your vehicle a name like Sasha, or Cleopatra etc, etc ... is stupid. I'm more of the Beast, The Dragon Wagon, or like @Werecow he has an explanation behind Cherry Bomb kind of guy. I just name my ride The Stang or The Mustang.

The truth is that my car is “the red car.” That’s what my daughter calls it, so that’s what we call it.
