So I was in the process of tearing down my 2v 4.6 on my 98 GT for a PI swap with stage 3 Comp Cams when I decided I had it swum to the block, I might as well go all out. So my dilemma is, do I go ahead and do forged internals and a blower or throw in a 351 stroked out to a 408? They are both expensive. What are some opinions on the pros and cons of each? I would love the 408 but am afraid it will be too much to deal with as far as wiring, etc. For the first option is would need a forged kit or stroker kit and a shop to install it then I need a supercharger for the second option I would need the crate motor, new trans and other computer or wiring components. Note: this is my bracket racing car and will basically be trailered to races and shows. Not worried about being street legal. Thanks for any advice you can give.

351 can work easily stroked to a 408

wiring shouldn't be too bad really.

Transmission you have now will work just so you know . Why not put a 514 in it ? There's no replacement for displacement.

Hope this helps God Bless!

If you do the big block you do need new Trans though just to add that in

id stay away from the 408. white95 can give some insight on big-cube builds. But if you do go that route, id suggest a stand-alone or a carb set up.

Sell it and buy a Coyote 5.0/Terminator/GT500/Roush/Saleen or some other "already fast from the factory" ride.

However... Keep a modular in your modular... Hell, build your 2V up... Ask MadStang how much fun his 388 rwhp 2V is or duff daddy... 4V swap wouldn't be terribly hard but I'd go with a terminator swap over all....

Less wiring...

such direct swap...

much fast...

You can get coyote motors out of f150s real cheap. Only differences as far as I know are cams, intake, tuning, and compression. Also apparently something about oil cooling.

The only difference is half the motor Lol.

That is a great price!!!! I think the market is flooded.... that will hopefully bring down 4.6 4v prices..... still cheaper to 5.3 LS

The D3V

Haha you're right it sounds like a lot, but the parts are just slightly different still very similar.

I was surprised about the price too, apparently its pretty easy to get a hold of these motors used.
