My engine is making a knocking noise. 2002 4.6L I believe it may be a rod, should I see about new rods, rod bearings and possibly turning the crank or should i buy a new crank. Im not sure what direction to go or who or where to take it to have quality service and workmanship I live in Mt .Ida, Arkansas

These modular engines can have a misleading knock noise that turns out to be a chain tensioner or lash adjuster. Get us a good video. Is the knock noise present at higher rpm? does the knock noise go away on the high rpm reving down

To diagnose a rod knock, run the engine at high idle, pull the injector connectors one at a time. If you hear a change in the knock on any of the cylinders, it's probably a rod or a piston. If not you need to look elsewhere.
