I need some advice on a good cat back system or even just mufflers. Right now this is my set up. Stock headers - BBK X-pipe high flow cats - Strait piped from cat back. I'm considering SLP Loudmouth 1 but if anybody has any advice for what sounds good with x-pipes. I would be grateful... -Video-
You have a 5.0 right? Personally I think the SLP loudmouths only sound good on modulars and when catless. The loudmouth 1 catback is very raspy and having cats & an x-pipe will make it even raspier. Also, SLP's are basically a glorified straight pipe. They are just meant to shatter people's hearing, nothing more. I would look for some borla stingers or some magnaflows. Those are my other 2 personal favorites.
Thanks for the quick feed back. yea I have the 5.0 and I had magnaflow on my VW GTI VR6 and it sounded good. Magnaflow sounds good on anything. I want to change up my tail pipes too. I think the stock stainless pipes are only like 2 inches. :893karatesmiley-thu This video is what SLP's should sound like on my car accept this guy has headers and catless. Go to about 4:45 for the high rev. Please ignore the driver.
+1 on Magnaflow. Read an article a LONG time ago from 5.0 mag and they did a muffler shootout. Magnaflow was the second highest in Hp gains (only losing by a couple tenths) and quietest and cruising while loudest at WOT. It was a no brainer for me.
I have Pypes Violator's catback behind my Bassani catted X. The mufflers are flow through, and are quiet at idle, very mimimal drone and only at 55mph, Aparently they're much louder outside than inside the car under full throttle. They were really loud with the o/r h installed. The sound is different than the usual exhausts you hear on mustangs. but not in a bad way either. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oyRJ6KqiC-E others http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=pypes+violator+mustang+5.0&sm=1
That sounds pretty good. Looks like AM has a Pypes Pype-Bomb stainless catback with 3.5" polished tips for $390. http://www.americanmuscle.com/pypes-bomb-catback-9804gt.html
I got my violators from Summit. Mainly because I live nearby http://www.summitracing.com/search/...indsor/year/1995/section/exhaust-systems-kits
Oh man IDK. I bought it brand new in 2002 so whatever they were selling then... Been a long minute but they are still on the car and looking/sounding amazing.
Skip SLPs.. Get MAC Flowpaths... Best sounding muffs I've heard yet on a 5.0.. I have an offroad X and MAC Flowpaths with Longtubes.. But I've had the MAC's with the stock catted H, and an offroad H.. They sound nasty and pissed off with an X pipe.
I'll add credit on Borlas. I realize I have a mod motor but Borla sounds good on anything man. Magnapacks are freakin insanely loud but sound good, on a catless system. It's so hard for me to tell you what sounds good with cat's because I hated my cats and ripped them off my x pipe lol (not literally, my bassani has straight pipes to take place of the cats). But I can say pick a system that you've heard before and like, and run with them. Youtube helps alot when deciding even tho the quality usually sucks... My vote is for Borla or Magnaflow
Im about to swap my macs out for slps ill sell the macs to you at a good price if you cover shipping. Shoot me a pm if you want Ps. My build thread has a clip on my car with stock headers mac catted h and mac cat back dumped over the axle Brought to you from a a land far far far very far veryy very far away
Hard to identify it by itself but you get the idea. The slowbra is my old mans with Bassani x Boral Cb and the fox I just sold had bassani x and Magnaflow CB. Slp 1's or magnapacks. I have regular magnaflows with my catted x magnaflow mid pipe on my 5.0. Im gonna go slp1 because i wanna go louder. The slp's will sound much cleaner and probably louder and raspier as its hallow rather than straight piping like u currently have. Magnapacks are also almost as loud but deeper.
Personally I like the sound of the slps on 5.0's. If its catted its fine, but no cats it seems to be just noise.
If your looking for a deeper tone, get the packs. If your looking for really loud, just have straight pipe put in place of the muffs you have now. Cause thats what SLPs are
if anyone is making a decision on which catback to get, based on how much HP you are going to gain.. no.. just no.
