Exhaust smell.

The previous owner removed all smog and swapped out the H pipe with an o/r. Well, trying to find and purchase all the smog stuff had proven to be time consuming and expensive. I'm just tired of the smell, really. The smell reminds my of my old fox body when I was running dumps. If I put some catalytic converters on this H pipe, will it tone the smell down? It's getting annoying.

yes, the cats should make it smell better
All the other smog stuff shouldn't make any difference.
Currently my smog pump is bypassed and the tube going to the cats is removed. I noticed no difference in smell or performance. If my car passes the sniffer in Feb like it has in the past, all of the smog stuff will be removed.

If you add cats that will help. I remember on my old 5.0 when I took off the stock pipe and went to O/R it smelled like gas a bit

Not for a daily. There was a time when I didn't mind smelling like my car. Now people at work pass me by and say, "you drove the mustang today?"
