How would I repair this? You know where you bolt the hood hinges to the hood? Mine was damaged along time ago and the threaded insert pulled out or something. So, it "pops up" closest to the cowl panel when you close it and looks like monkey shit. Anyone have an idea of a repair?
Man, I have to do the same shit with mine. Im thinking about making a steel plate with two studs and find a way to fiberglass it in there.
I'd have to take some detailed pictures after work, apparently I have none in my photobucket. I'm no totally against simply replacing the hood but that costs money. Have you seems the 270$ hoods on the local Craigslist?
If you are trying to bond the steel back to the fiberglass, you could use SEM multi purpose panel adhesive. Part number 39747. Make sure to follow the tech sheets! Sent from my LGL22C using Tapatalk
Champion hoods? I think they're from Ohio, thought I heard that they were steel, and were pretty low quality. No first hand experience though.

Can you thread this stuff like the "magnum steel" two part stuff....Hey, did I just answer my own question? Yes, they aren't "local" to Louisiana but their ad is
When it is cured it is insanely strong, I just dont know if the tap would cut clean threads in it. Sent from my LGL22C using Tapatalk
Assuming its done correctly yes, but I think the best way would be to replace it with a stud with a base plate on it and bond it from the back, to make sure it can't pull through. There isn't a lot of surface area ya know? You should probably run some hood pins too anyway, unless you can't stand the looks that much! Sent from my LGL22C using Tapatalk
I'll be doing a thread on a substantial fiberglass hood repair. The entire inner liner is missing or broken free. It'll be a few weeks still, but it should give you an idea on the amount of work involved to get a proper repair done for longevity.
I think your golden then! Remember to put nice big grind marks in the bonded surfaces for mechanical adhesion! Sent from my LGL22C using Tapatalk
