Hey all, new here! I have a 1996 mustang gt with a fully built 5.0 and AODE (RE-swapped for a t5 lol) swapped in out of a 95 (I believe due to the computer being 95) and I want to go ahead and replace some steering/brake components, but I’m unsure what car I should be buying parts for, since I’m pretty sure you have to change over the k-member from a 5.0 car to use that motor in a 4.6 bodied car. Anyone have advice on how I can go about figuring out what year the suspension is from? The previous owner did the swap and I’m unsure if he transferred steering etc with the k, or used original. Thanks!

Good question! Sorry I am of no help. We have a alot here that have done suspension and steering replacements and will most likely know exactly what you are asking. Give it a day or so and someone will chime in.

The only significant change is steering rack location. But the main core parts are still all interchangeable. in 1996, with the intro of the 4.6L, Ford lowered the steering rack down about 1.0". As a result, they also redesigned the spindle so that the mounting point for the tie rod end was also 1" lower. This maintains the proper steering geometry.

So, given that a 94-95 K-member is installed, the only change that should have been made is swapping to 94-95 spindles, but I highly double this occured. Not the end of the world, just will have some bumpsteer.

But suspension parts are interchangeable. The steering racks, tie rod ends, caster camber plates, springs, shocks etc all fall under 94-04 year span. Out back, some slight changes with 99-04 cars but that doesn't apply here

What parts are you looking for specifically? Most of those parts cross over amongst the years
was going to go through new inner/outer tie rods brakes and front wheel bearings
