Hello everyone, I'm looking for a more precise adjustment over the preload on the throwout bearing.

A little background, I like my clutch to grab low. I don't want to say excessively low, but low. Anyway, did a 1st gear pull, went to shift, the clutch pedal went to the floor way easier than normal, and I couldn't pull out of 1st gear. Tried adjusting the quadrant for more preload, and the problem went away. Not sure why it just started out of nowhere.

Best I could come up with was that was my generic cables last straw, and now stretches when the pedal is pushed, OR, one setting on the quadrant stripped. I can't see it. Anyway, if anyone has explanations, please feel free to spitball. I'm curious. Anyway, went home to replace the clutch cable (need to reroute it), and now the problem is much better. However, my pedal grabs differently now. I would like to have it like before, but with the limited settings of the stock quadrant, I can't set it to where I feel it is normal.

For this reason, I want to make the move to a Maximum Motorsport quadrant (stock quadrant radius), and some sort of firewall adjuster. I plan to use a stock style cable. My questions are, any suggestions for a firewall adjuster? And how much better adjustability (think how precise) compared to the stock quadrant?

As for my shifting problem, I'm not 100% on it being a cable issue. I am going to look underneath the car and see if I see anything out of the ordinary during clutch action. Thank you.

I’ve used upr, steeda and LMR quadrants and firewall adjusters with no issues. Any one of them will be fine and get the job done.

As far as your issue is concerned, check the quadrant to see if all the teeth are still there.

The ford cable is beefier than other aftermarket ones. I think it was discontinued, but can certainly be had at MM for their firewall adjuster. The MM quadrant fits the oem cable and MM cable better, because the groove is wider.

I have The MM quadrant, cable, firewall adjuster and pedal level adjuster. It is a rock solid setup.

Clutch pedal is level with brake pedal via the level adjuster and you are just stabbing the clutch pedal to the floor to get it to disengage and grab.

Add the throttle cable slack mod (with split nylon ferrule and hose clamp) and the pedals sit pretty level with each other.

It's a wonderful setup.

Dohhh!
I am getting old. MM has discontinued that cable...as others have said.
I would like at SVE.

The important thing IMO is the cable size compared to oem.
