First gen explorer?

What do you guys think about the first gen explorers? I really like them, and they're pretty cheap. I want something 4x4 that I can fix up, maybe swap the front spindles for the later Ranger ones so I can have the dual piston calipers, and possibly drop a 302 into it. Do they have a lot of problems?

I drove a 99 Mountaineer 5.0 for a few years. It was ok, but I like the no-frills-ness of the first gen. And I'm not quite sure what you're getting at, 96. I thought the garage is where we could talk about whatever.

WHO DOESNT LOVE FIRST GENS?

I always thought they looked cool lifted and whatnot but TTB can be a pain to get aligned up once you get them up high. But they can be had cheap enough and could always been a fun a little project. The Ranger Station would be a good site to start doing some research on them.
