I found this thread, that had an artlice from fast fords mag. It showed the three head choses with bolt on GT's. And some air flow numbers.

http://www.allfordmustangs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29892&page=3

Stock Non-PI motor: 237.4hp, 318.9tq
FRPP Heads & E46 Intake: 314.3hp, 344.3tq
PI Heads, Intake, Cams: 291.2hp, 334.7tq
Ported non-PI heads, PI intake, Livernois cams: 335.8hp, 335.2tq
Ported PI heads, PI intake, Livernois cams: 351.6hp, 340.4tq

Also showed how Ported PI heads barely flow more then stadard FRPP heads.

yeah i remember that article...

The SVO when ported correct are just mean nasty!

The ported PI's/NPI's in that test didn't inpress me. Take them to MPH or Renegade Racing and they can be made to flow 245-250 cfm in race port easily but the Svo's can be made to flow 280cfm!

If i had it all to do all over again i would have went with the SVO heads instead of my P&P'd PI heads.

engine dyno....engines out of car so it has not loss of power through drivetrain.

I hadn't seen the article but cars are supposed to be rated at the flywheel horse power with all accessories included. Stock a 98 GT with 225 flywheel horsepower is rated around 180 to 190 rwhp. Which do you think sells the car? I assumed that test was done with bolt on's. I believe those numbers are from rwhp. not Flywheel. With full bolt on's. But thats just my guess.

good info CasyePain

These engine numbers there's no exhaust resistance from cats or mufflers.

Since this is engine HP - times it by .75 to give you RWHP. (drivetrain loss)
it's .77 for a manual trans, but since this is an engine dyno with no emissions, .75 is pretty close.

I'd bet newer cam grinds will give you better numbers.

My car got 263 HP and 277 TQ 4 years ago, power heads ported PI's and mild cams.
5200 ft elevation, auto, average tune.
That's approx 350 HP 369 tq at the flywheel.
Cool!

The guys getting 330 rwhp with better cams and tune on ported PI's- that's 440 at the flywheel.

ohh ok....so why do that classifly the stock non pi's at 225 hp?.....y not the 237
the engine dyno is also run without accessories which rob HP and usually an electric water pump. So the engine dyno is usually the max #s (gross) the engine can produce.

Ford factors in engine accesory loss then gives the gross HP rating.

well in the case of our limp wristed GT's yes....but those 94/95 Cobra -03/04 Cobra and supposedly the GT500 were all under rated. Now thats a good problem to have. I wish our pathetic stock #'s were wrong :(

They had to after the 2000 Cobra fiasco when they got sued for overstating the hp figures

Car Craft Magazine also just recently did a article on how "the mod motor rocks" similar to this.

Only place I ever see them is on corral.net in the classifieds and they usually are overpriced.

The racers will snatch them up quickly because when ported properly can flow like 250-280cfm and they won't get a weight penalty running them like the Trick Flows.

I would buy the Trick Flows if I was looking for new heads :)
