Fuel pump question for 98 GT's

So im looking for a new fuel pump to support my nitrous set up and AM says that the only fuel pumps really that they carry are good in 86-97? They have a BBK pump but im not paying $300 for a bbk fuel pump that i feel will fail in 2 years. So what is the difference between my pump and the ones that AM offers? I have a friend that has a 340lph fuel pump that I was going to pick up from him but I dont want to buy it if im not going to be able to make it work. Has anyone here with a 98 ever fit a 86-97 pump? Any help is greatly appreciated!

from what i understand the 98 pumps are a return less style pump with a return style hat
