How bad would 4.10's hurt my mileage? I am trying to decide to between 3.73's or 4.10's, I want the's but I am worried about mileage. Is it that much worse?

after my 4:30's were installed my tank milage went down about 10-15 from what I can tell. Either way it is not enough to be worried about.

You put 4.30's in a 5.0? If so wow, I think i many go with 4.10's.

I did have 4:10's in my 91, but that is what the motor set-up called for. I had the Edelbrock RPM complete kit and the 4:10 gear was what Edelbrock recommended for it. With that car I only got around 220 to a tank :-[

no not to hard maby one WOT run per tank i dont know if you would consider that hard. i sjift around 2,200 rpms and try to keep my throtal down but i only get 100miles to the half tank and thats mostly highway. my car is all stock maby i need to get rid of the cats thay could be cloged but the car runs just fine so i dont see a problem other than the 200miles per tank

wow, i get around 140 miles highway, and the worst is 98 miles city for a 1/2 tank. seafoam, clean maf,, new gas filter, new plugs, wires and clean air filter really help out gas mileage wise.

I run 4:10's but then again i realize I drive a Mustang on the autobahn and don't expect good milage. If your worried about milage go with 3.55's, otherwise don't expect a huge difference between the 3.73's and 4:10's. It makes a hell of a difference in acceleration though let me tell you, don't fear the gear, go with 4:10's and buy a moped :dancing6:

I wouldn’t say buy a moped but maybe a street bike on days I want to save gas or just go fast I ride my bike around 45 miles to the gallon or so can beat that and it will do 170 and out run almost any street car. But I have also been debating on 373 or 410 I didn’t know if the 5.0 was good for the high rpms the 410’s will put it at on freeway driving say 70mph. I would get some gears in a heart beat if I trusted my self to do it on my own but I think my posy might be slipping so it might be time for a rebuild soon on that too

Just get a torsen t2 diff and 4.10 gears and be done with it. About 3k rpms at 70mph, 17-19mpg highway and about 14.5-14.2 at the strip with 2.0 second 60ft's.

seems like it killed my mpg honestly, and mine are on a v6. So I can only imagine them on a v8 :sad5:

Well, I have 3.73's and I filled up with gas this morning, and spent at least 45 minutes going back and forth, and my gas guage hasn't dropped any... yet.
