I know lots of people use ATF. Almost everyone I talked to says "dont use gear oil its crap for our trannys, use ATF!!!!"

To awnser your question its syntetic 75W-90. Royal Purple is supposed to be great and you dont need to add friction modifier, some you do, it should say on the bottle.

I did a search on the ATF vs Gear oil and found this:
    http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=558060&highlight=gear+oil

32 to 4 say use ATF.

sorry matt, i guess i didnt specify that the gear oil was for the rear end, not the tranny. i put lucas in my rear end and ive heard too many bad things about lucas so i wanna change it for a different oil. i have the friction modifier already , just need oil.

I did give you the awnser to confirm you want To awnser your question its syntetic 75W-90. Most people run SAE 80 or 90....90 if its a bit noisy or you really giver in the stang all over.

Don't forget the Ford friction modifier or the Trac-loc won't!

    Be prepared...it stinks!!!
