A question for u guys.

I am swapping out my 3:27 rear end gears for 3:55's, 3:73 or 4:10's.

My question is this...which should I go to?

What will my MPG be with each? I am getting about 18 around town and 20 highway with my current 3:27's.

What will be my top speed with each? Factory calls for 152 MPH with current 3:27's.

Any input will be appreciated. 8)

My 1997 Cobra had 3:27's. I was getting about 22-23 mpg as an ave per tank.

I installed 3:73's I now ave 20-21 per tank. I drove the car to Florida from Pennsylvania. I ave 25-26 mpg with the 3:73's Same when I drove it to Ma, and my trip to Ct

I have already installed underdrive pullies, catback exhaust and a BBK cold air intake. I ran a LT-1 Trans Am and got eaten up after the quarter mile, I thought maybe lower gears would help me stay closer.

Are these (3:90's) installed in your Stang? If so what are your #'s (gas milage, top speed, etc)?

The 3:27'2 do alright, but are to slow out of the gate for me and way to long in getting into the 125+mph area.

I dont run 125+mph much, but I want to get there quick when I do. :eek:uttahere: O0

with a DOHC motor, i wouldn't go any lower than 4.10s.

I am very happy with my 3:73's. If you use your car as much as I use mine, go with 3:73's. If you only use it for a weekend play toy, go with 4:10's.

I dont have those installed in my stang, but im getting them installed in a few weeks...Just that people always look at 3.73 or 4.10, but hardly anyone looks at 3.90's. 3.90's are a pretty good gear from what i hear. Just that they are really hard to find now...idk why though.

One thing to think about is that anything higher than 3:73 gears you need to get a speed cal. With 3:73's you can still change the speedo gear and your speedo will be right.

I wish I would have gotten 4.30's, but alot of people were saying I'd hate the 4.10's. I didn't listen to them, but was afraid to go further. If I could do it over, I'd have gotten the 4.30's...

Why not just say screw it and go with 4:86's and get it over with.

my uncle used to have an old International pickup that had like 4:86's or 5:38's. That thing was so slow it would have taken it a week to die a sudden death. 8)
I'm sure those gears would be great in a Mustang for the 1/4 mile though.

My friend has 4:10's in a Camaro and he says they are to low...Beats me what to get. :dunno:
