with the covers being stamped and so easy to get out of shape I can't imagine that clearancing them for rockers would help much. I also wondered about the breather.

94 Cobra motors used 1.7 Crane from factory. I still use them with stock covers

*Because* they're stamped steel, a ball-peen hammer was an effective "clearancing tool," but only for small adjustments.

Update from Friday....she's running with dyno and tuning work this week. She is still running 19lb'ers and that makes me highly doubtful. I know that they're good for @240 RWHP and she'll be well past that. Unless they have some magic up their sleeves, I am expecting for her to jump to 24lb'ers. What do y'all think?

Looking good! I have similar power goals in mind for my '94. I've just about got cosmetics taken care of, then on to the power department.

Update: They had her on the dyno today, and I was told the numbers over the phone (276 whp 315 tq). Kinda wanted to break the 300 whp mark but oh well.

95GTS,
Small world! I’m in Cali also(near Camarillo), I’m having the same engine work being done(by L&R Engines in Santa Fe Springs via Full Throttle Kustomz in Fillmore) and with the same Cali restrictions! ‘95 Cobra, 91k, original 4.0 block

Hey brother, so what numbers were they able to squeeze out of her?

1.7...I would imagine they modified the valve covers to clear those
I know on my TF170s they raise the valve cover mounting surface a bit to help. Ford ran 1.7s under the 94/95 covers just fine in the Cobra, so with the right rockers it works.

Honestly some respectable numbers right there. For a small cam, small intake, stock bottom end you got a solid number. And with 19lb injectors at that! Plus all accessories..
I could see it gaining the extra 24hp with a couple tweaks.

No they aren’t. The 94/95 Cobra covers are identical to the GT covers except for the Cobra names stamped on them.

You're right. Trick Vert is wrong. This subject is discussed in another thread on here.
