if you choose to stay with a 17 inch wheel, your choices for an ultra High performance hadling DOT street tire are limited. When Moving up to 18 and larger diameter wheels the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup would be the best, but in a 17 inch size it’s the Goodyear or nothing.

However, the Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD 3 is the best 17 inch high performance street tire available. Period.

The things that make the GSD 3 great:

Outstanding hydroplaning resistance.

Widest 275/40/17 and 315/35/17 tires on the market.

Excellent reviews

A tire test that was won by the GSD 3

https://www.caranddriver.com/review...est-the-quick-and-the-tread-comparison-tests/

As an all-around high-performance tire, you can't beat this Goodyear. It was the best performer in all three wet-track tests and was very competent in the dry. It generated 0.94 g on the dry skidpad, only 0.01 g off the first-place BFGoodrich and tied with the Yokohama and Hankook.

The Goodyear gripped so well that you might not have been certain the road was wet, and it lost traction in a gentle, predictable manner. It held onto the wet track with 0.82 g of stick, an impressive figure considering the worst tire in that test made only 0.67 g.

The Eagle F1 got a lot of favorable comments. In the wet, Geswein called it "direct"—a way of saying the tire provided clear signals about its contact with the pavement.

There were tires that performed better in the dry, but the Eagle wasn't far off. It was a little less precise than the BFG and Yokohama on a dry track, but not by much. And like the Continental, the Goodyear had a high 280 tread-wear grade. At $145 each, it's $34 cheaper than the most expensive tire here.

One thing to keep in mind about the imprints we carefully obtained is that a tire's contact patch changes dramatically as it is loaded, so these prints are not accurate representations of the amount of rubber that each tire puts on the road while cornering or braking.

Your opening a can of worms..
Anti hydroplaning in a max performance tire is moot.
I’ve driven my Goodyear Eagle GSD 3 super wide 315/35/17 tires at speed in the rain. Have you? Plus the test I prosted proves it.

No where near as good as a rain tire.
What other tire in the popular 275/40/17 and 315/35/17 wide mustang sizes will outperform the Goodyear GSD 3 tire in the rain???

What proof do you have to back up your “no where near as good as a rain tire “ claim??

Once again, The baddest mother ****** of a ultra high performance 17 inch street tire in the dry and the rain is the Goodyear GSD 3

Look at tread pattern! It’s incredible in the rain. Fact.

if 3 tires with the same size aren't the same width, at least two of them are wrong.

315mm/ 25.4mm = 12.40"

if they differ, than they aren't really 315 tires.

"Federal's extremely successful UHP... Combat-bred, performance driven, designed for those requiring flat-out performance, no other tire grips like the 595, yet still provides for the basic comforts of everyday driving. Aggressive V-shaped tread and innovative silica compound maximizes higher level of adhesion, resistance to aquaplaning, and gives your car the ultimate control in acceleration, cornering and braking."

Only $87.52 on eBay. Why are they the best? It says so in the ad and they have a five of five star rating. I believe everything I see on the internet, so this MUST be the best tire (insert mike drop here).
