This may be simple for you guys but I build older stuff and this looks funny to me. I'm assembling my 5.0 and have a set of Felpro 1250 intake gaskets. There is a little piece on each end that doesn't look right. Can someone explain this to me? Should I trim it off? Here's a picture and the area in question is in the red circle.

Found this on another mustang site ...

The 1250's have that extra piece in the water passage so they'll work with early 351w heads that have more intake bolts and an L shaped water passage. If you read the instructions, it says to trim it of you dont need it

I've never used those, I prefer the rubber end kits rather than the cork.

Instructions? These came in a Ford Racing gasket set, no instructions. But now I do remember the 351 does have that.

Thanks guys, better to ask and make sure than blow an engine and look stupid, right?
