I got my new 6,000 stall converter from Edge today. We'll see if it lives up to the hype. In other news, I'm ready to put my 4.30s in and I have decided on a 300 hp wet kit with a progressive controller because I'm tired of going so damned slow. :boink:
Yep. According to the ET analyzer I've been using, the converter and gears should get me into the 9.40-9.50 range. The nitrous should put me in the 8.20 range . . . .
6000 staul? How does that work with your launch, does it launch then shift into second right away? How high does that thing rev?
Here's how it works: I set my two step for whatever launch rpm I want. I have found the car cuts the best lights at about 4200rpm on the two step. While the transbrake is ebgaged, the two-step is operation, so it limits the RPMs to 4200 When I release the transbrake, the two-step is deactivated and the car launches At launch, the converter "flashes" at something less than the "dead stall" As the converter grabs and the car starts to move, the converter begins to lock-up (fluid coupling -- not a mechanical lock-up) By the time the car is through the traps, I am probably only losing a hundred RPM or so to the converter (from what I am given to understand, the Edge converter is supposed to lock up better than others do). If I have my shift point set at 6500 rpm, I'll probably be hitting second gear at about the 60 foot mark.
