Well hey guys first post, i guess ill start with the backstory of this car. My brother was looking for a new car. He decided he would get a sn95 cause we had a fox and he loved the car but since it was automatic he never learned to drive manual so he picked this car up its a 98 gt. It seems to be in decent condition from the exterior though the interior had some issues(though that is way easier to take care of). Well when we went to go buy this we heard a noise, we knew it could have been rodknock, and he bought it anyway. Well it turned out to be rodknock. I ended up adopting it when he said he was gonna get rid of it instead of fix it.

As you can see already removed most of the interior. Since i was plannung on cleaning it all up20190613_021810.jpg
Since im low on cash its been slow, however i recently sourced a motor for $800 and it was still in the car so we could make sure it ran fine. Ended up taking the car home for $50020191109_151333.jpg 20191109_182153_HDR.jpgshe aint complete but she will do for the swap20191118_204040.jpg

This is where im at right now. I stripped a bolt that held on the torque coverter so i cut the flywheel.

Im stuck here because i need a clutch alignmemt tool so i figured ill just buy a new clutch/flywheel/pressure plate and i need to know the exact year to figure out the clutch i should order.

I see on lmr there are 10.5 and 11 inch flywheels, anyone know how i can find out what year block this is so u can order the parts? Any help appreciated. I plan to update on this build i am recording videos to make a build vlog type thing but we'll see how i feel.

Youre in luck! The flywheel you choose depicts the clutch size needed. If you choose a 10.5 flywheel, get the 10.5 clutch, same scenario with the 11.

Both flywheels are the exact same over all diameter. Same thickness. Same everything except for clutch dowl pin placement.

Just be sure to get the correct number of crankshaft bolt flywheel. And if you dont have clutch flywheel cranksaft bolts, pick up a set cause flexplate bolts are way to short.

Dont forget the input shaft bearing too.

Also note this, when mounting the flywheel to the crankshaft, it will only bolt up one way meaning the bolt patterns will only mate one way. Youll have to keep rotating the flywheel to match both bolt patterns together. Itll be tight but will go easily by hand.

Man for the price of that engine you could have got yourself a pretty stout PI motor. Nice to see more people joining the forums though and its cool to see you adopted the project. These cars are blast to mod and parts are pretty cheap these days for them.

I had thought about it but was not sure where to source a motor. Gonna install the bad engine in the convertible to sell it to a junkyard. So it will probably only have cost me $300 in total. I do have pi heads on the bad engine aswell so i could just tear those off and keep them but i would like to get them rebuilt first

Good idea! A pi head engine should reach 300rwhp easily. So yes, pull them heads! Itll be good practice to break them down and clean up
