286/286 cant be right

sounds like an E cam

P heads done right will flow pretty good, sounds like a decent setup, however I personally would ditch the cam in favor of a custom stick.

Helps guide the pushrod on high performance engines n the studs where machined to use 7/16 studs instead of the stock 3/8....what does me mean by this? Does this make any difference ...

First off the majority of GT40 and GT40P heads are a 5/16 Pedestal mount Rocker. There is no reason why anyone would take a stock head and have it machined to just it to run studs when you can run a conversion kit for 1/2 the money. I would also be weary of this. Ask him to take the heads to a machine shop of your choice to get checked out before you purchase he can go with you. If he won't agree i would say find something else to go with.

why would you even change them to begin with ??? a kid has them he bought a running engine off someone else and he couldnt sell the motor as a whole so he is selling the head and cam first...he doesnt seem like he knows exactly whats done to the head

What was his price again for both?
If the Price is right i would take him up on the machine shop and foot the bill. The 40P's are a good low budget head. There have been numerous people that pull off hella #'s with them and the 40's

sounds good. i would'nt worry about the conversion to stud mount with 7/16 you might have to use tall valve covers. get them checked out if there good and the price is right the 60 bucks you spend at the machine shop will be woth it.
