Well I lucked out today! My dad and I get on craigslist.org periodically to look for a project/track mustang. Anyway while browsing through the lists I see one that caught my eye! It was a post for referbished 99 PI heads with vavles, springs, reatinors. Also in the add was PI cams already on the heads, BBK tuned Shorties, PI intake, and windsor cam covers. All of this stuff is new except for the cam covers. All I will need to put these on are assemble them and then gaskets and head bolts! I also wont be putting these on for a while, because I had no money my dad let me borrow some. I had to make a few deals with him! 1st The heads can not be installed until I have paid them off and have put the same amount into my savings account. 2. every dollar i spend putting these on the heads( bolts, gaskets, etc) has to be matched and put in the bank. 3rd my 1969 suzuki TS250 has to be up for sale and running properly!

Now for the questions! 1st is it normal to have small bubbly metal in the intake ports? (Pic 9) 2nd how much should I sell the PI intake for? 3rd how much for the shorties, I think I will sell them and save up for Long Tube headers and Prochamber!

Comments Welcome!

And lets see who can come the closest to how much I paid for these!

I never was going to strap a supercharger to this car! Not unless I go with a whole new motor! And well I had plans for a SVO intake with port matched SVO heads and some great cams, but this was too great of a deal! Anyway I still think I might get them ported and polished and stuff them with beehive valve springs and comp 270s if I have the PTV clearance!

The "bubbles" in the intake runners are normal casting leftovers. Intakes such as yours are selling for 150'ish when new or near new. Obviously, one will pay more from the dealer. Dunno on the BBK shorties. Probably $225'ish? You can get the new kit, with hardware and gaskets for as little as $275 with free shipping. Sounds like you got a great deal.... $800?

What type of cylinder head bolts should I use? And how much should I be spending on bolts and gaskets?

You'll need several additional parts, besided head bolts and gaskets... For starters, it sounds like you're on a tight budget, so I would recommend the Ford Head Changing kit.. http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/productitem_10001_10002_757858_-1_217096?CT=999

Secondly, you'll need a new heater tube, heater tube nipple, alternator bracket and possibly new bolts for your timing cover if those are windsor heads, which they look like to me. The windsor heads use larger bolts for the timing cover.

You are correct they are windsor heads! And I am on somewhat of a budget, but I also want to do this only once and do it correctly the first time! If that means I dont have these parts on there until next spring then so be it! BTW I dont need the heater tube and nipple, because i just swapped my NPI intake for a PI one not a month ago thanks though! Anybody have anythoughts on the Comp 270s with beehive springs? And also some port and polish work? How much should my heads flow in velocity and CFMs ported and polished? And what type of price am I looking at for that type of port and polish work?

That is one awesome deal and I've been scanning local craigslist and Ebay for such a deal for quite some time. Before you sell those shorties, make sure that you can pass emissions with LTs. Best time to install them is when you put on the heads as you will have the best access. Good luck with the savings and install.

Yeah thanks for the heads up with emissions, but I am not worried about that! In the county that our cabin is in doesnt require any emission testing at all they dont even look at the vehicle to register it so that is where I have it registered! Thanks! And yes I am probably going to be selling the headers, cams, and valve covers. I already have a buyer on the PI intake. And for the cams I might go with a custom grind as well to fit my car the best! We will see though!

Good job buddy. But i would prefer Romeo heads over windsor anyday. The heads look like they might have been over by a machine shop. The "bubbles" you saw just looks like they were checked over and then painted up. I would assume they are good. I would personally do anything to them now that youre thinking of rather than down the road. Flowtech Longtubes will suite you just fine and cheap money too. Some people have had fitment issues with their midpipes with them, but nothing serious. Sell the shortys. Stage 2 cams will be great for you. I would also suggest a VT S2. Easy assembly of the valve springs now too. I would go with a APR headbolt if you can and DEFF a aftermarket headgasket. With higher compression these PI swaps like to lift off the block. More so you would need to worry about it with FI. The Ford headbolts are torque to yield so you will need new ones anyways. The exhaust manifold studs look ok, but to save alot of aggrivation go with Stage 8 bolts and some percy gaskets.

Good luck man.

Yeah man my plans are to go with a cam from VT or Crower stage 2 with that valves spring set up! I might look into some Porting and Polishing as well! And I am going to get a Ford Head changing kit! Thanks man! I will be asking lots of questions! And I would perfer romeo heads as well, but this was just too good of a deal! And yes the head have been done over and painted, by Alabama Cylinder HEad AKA Patriot Performance Heads!
