Are all aluminum heads from the 3.8l and 4.2l basically the same? Also the super coupes, did they come with special heads? Kinda digging into this. Ive been considering a v6 mustang as a daily comuter and you know us stangers, we cant leave them alone..lol. Any info would be great!

single vs split port.
You want split port unless you're going supercoupe swap.
4.2 and new edge had split.

Super six motorsports has a good comparison, but these are ported heads.

Will windstar heads fit on the 98 Mustang for the split port swap?

With a rod knock does that mess up the heads??? I found a 2000 3.8 to do the split port swap on my non split port engine for 100 dollars but he said it had a rod knock.... Knowing I don't need the block are the heads still good or do they need to be machined???

If it's truly just a rod knocking due to something such as a spun bearing then it would be fine. Now if it's cause a rod is broken that's different, or if the sound is cause something else broke loose that's also possibly a problem
