I need to find a head for my sisters 02.. what year are compatible.. is it only 99-04.. got the car thinking it had an exhaust leak. Took it apart to fix it. Turns out someone jb welded the #1 spark plug on.. we got the car pretty cheap now I know why. . No big deal I can swap it out in a few hours. .

Aluminum.

You need the New Edge heads, or I believe you can use the 4.2 heads? You need the split port heads. So New Edge, f-150, windstar I believe will work.

To my knowledge any split port head will work. I don't have any good spares to send out right now, otherwise I'd help you out. Had a similar situation with mine. The threads stripped, so I helicoiled, then that blew out. Came to find I had drilled and tapped into an existing helicoil, so they had been stripped before. F me lol

Thanks. . I'm going to hit a few junk yards. Can't be that expensive.. don't want to really spend the money to fix it when they are plentiful. .

Just take it easy. I do suggest looking up the torque specs for the head and the upper and lower intakes. Obviously you stretch the head bolts during install, meaning you tighten, then loosen, then tighten back down. I also like to use the copper spray gasket stuff on my head gaskets. Helps spread and dissipate heat better (apparently.) Is it a waste of $7 for a can? Perhaps, but its a $7 gamble I'll take haha

Aw man I literally just threw out my old ones like 2 weeks ago :( I don't believe they are the same but I may be wrong.

You'll find breaking this motor down to be quite easy compared to its V8 counter part. A ton of room to work! lol

Ah forgot to tell you about IMRC, that's in 01+ cars. And I thought it was passenger side, which is a bit easier. The power steering pulley can argue a bit, so just make sure the jaws are grabbing right. If not, you might break off chunks of it, not that I've ever done that :look: haha

Since its coming apart. I'm taking the driver side off getting it clean up. . Might as well. . Since the gaskets kit comes with both sides. . The right puller does not use jaws. It goes on the snout of the pulley.. I'll post a pic tomorrow. . When I get another one. .

Roger that dude, I would have probably done the same, it's not much more work once you're already in there. And yes you're correct about the puller, I've just had a stubborn pulley one time that ended up breaking a bit around that snout, but no harm no foul, $30 for a brand new motorcraft one.

Is it the bolt or in the head? Or one of the head bolts?? Ugh that always sucks!
