Hellion's Build Thread

In the spirit of everyone else showing their projects, I thought i'd take you guys on the journey of the Blue car.

So enjoy the first installment, there's more to come later.

When we first got the car in 2005:

The car was a customer's of John's that was basically left at john's due to financial issues caused by a divorce. We were eventually able to talk him (the customer, not John) into selling it to us.

It was an awesome deal because the car already had several nice items in it, as it was originally intended to be a stock suspension Super Street Outlaw car in the NMRA.

Things like a fully braced 12 point cage:

a Strange 9 inch rear with Strange discs and 31 spline axles, spool, and aluminum center section with 3.73 gears installed. Also double adjustable upper and lower control arms and a Wolfe Racecraft single anti-roll bar.

The car had almost nothing as far as the front end goes, and by nothing i mean no fenders, bumper, hood, or even springs:

It's our blue car, the one in my signature, these pics are from 2005. I just thought it would be fun to detail the build of it on here.

The engine is a R-blocked 347 with a billet steel crank, aluminum rods, and custom pistons, Victor Jr. heads, a ported Holley Systemmax intake, and a ProCharger F-1R

Yeah . . we've been talking about hooking up in Vegas and running the cars. His is faster, but it would be fun.

Now . . if I can sneak in some spray before I get there . . . . 8)

My understanding is that they have not yet made a pass in the blue car . . . . and I have not made a "full" pass in mine.

Theoretically, Hellion's ride should be a little quicker . . . maybe

We'll know more when we meet up in Phoenix and, possibly, Vegas and run the cars heads up.

You guys won't want video of that . . . will you?

Hey guys, no the car isn't totally finished yet, so this still sorta counts as an ongoing build thread, I'm just doing a little back history.

The car should run well into the 8's when it's all sorted out.

The engine is a R-blocked 347

what's that?

R block refers to the R302 block produced by Ford Racing Performance Parts. It's a 4 bolt main (as apposed to 2 bolt on stock production blocks) and is made of high density iron. It's basically a block designed for full on race applications, similar to a dart or world products block.


Ok guys, here's installment number 2... The initial phases of construction.

So after buying the car, we aquired some weld Pro Stars with some well worn slicks to put on the car to roll on, as well as some borrowed (because they were bent from a massive wheel stand) front wheels. This was just so we could get a feel for the appearance of the car.

The next step was the mock up of our new Harwood 4 inch cowl hood and our new front bumper, as well as the first test fit of our wing. The wing was on John's outlaw car for a season, but was replaced by a Racecraft unit, so we got the old one.

Looks kinda mean:
