Hello everyone! New guy here blah blah blah, you've heard it all before, I'm sure. I picked up a 98 gt convertible a couple months ago from an 18 year old kid and have been working on getting it to where I want it. So far I've had dual exhaust with x pipe installed, H&R race springs are going on (just waiting for warmer weather) and have new tires coming in tomorrow. I'm pretty happy with this car so far but an unfortunate turn of events this weekend changed my plans with it.
I was brought to this forum by Google after reading a few threads that caught my eye. I hope to learn a few things and see where this goes! :)

Welcome to the site! Congrats on the 98.

Sorry for being curious but what happened this past weekend? Didn't sound too good by the way your worded it.

Glad you chose to join us! I have two 98 GT convertibles in the stable - one for me, one for my wife. What happened to change your plans with yours???

My buddy was borrowing my Mark viii and as a result, I now have a complete 32v engine to install into my 98 gt. I also have a complete 98 cobra to pull the parts from for when I instal the 32v into my gt. My buddy is paying for any of the incidentals I might need for the swap, too.

Oh and I should have added, my wife is a Mustang driver too, she has a 2013 Mustang and recently sold her 2007 Mustang.

Consider it a blessing in disguise. Sorry to hear about the Mark VIII but sounds like you have a great plan for it's remains.

Yessir. I thought about swapping in the IRS as well because I have a 4.30 center section for the Mark with a trac-loc that would be awesome in the Stang too. But I'm just not sure I want to go THAT far with the swap.

Welcome! Sorry to hear about the Lincoln, but at least it's got a great motor to swap! Keep us posted on the swap

Thunderbird supercoupe based rear irs will not swap. Even though the t-bird shared a lot from the fox chassis the rear half is in no way useable.

Sorry to bear the bad news but glad to see your salvaging the heart of that mark.

Yeah I answered that kind of confusingly. I meant, I want to use the IRS out of a cobra and use the center section from the Lincoln that I had bought and never installed. Too bad that particular cobra doesn't have what I need though. I just remembered it was a 98 as I was typing this out, had to back out and edit it.
