Ok so far I have the following; 4.10 gears, Shift Kit, O/R X pipe, and Flows. Now I need your help and opinions. Should I stick with the 2 valve or should I drop something like a 5.4 in her or a Terminator motor? What would give me the best bang for the buck? If I stick with the Non-PIed motor I have now, I was thinking doing the PI swap, Cams, Nitrous, and headers, but I dont think that would be enough? Even if it was, I only heard the 2 valve motors can only handle around 400 or so HP? So I've been browsing around looking at other peoples SN95 GTs and seeing what there using. But I still dont have a clue. Should I just do a full engine swap? Help! I need some suggestions!

Thanks guys!

im planning on doing the terminator swap sooner or later.
ive seen it done on fox mustangs and its flipping killer,
also seen a 97 with a mach 1 engine in it that was amazing.
do the 4 valve swap, its better bang for the buck man.

most GTOs trap mid 13s, the first ones were trapping high 13s, low 14s.So dont look at their horsepower look at their times. for a GT to get low 13s-high 12s.the best bang for the buck will be a PI swap.once ur in there if u can afford it, get p&p heads or some cams with long tubes and full madrel bent exhaust.with these mods , ur 4.10s and sticky tires i dont see why u cant pull one in the quarter mile.remember ur stang is lighter so u dont need 400hp to pull a GTO.the 4v is nice if u can afford it but it WILL cost a pretty penny in the long run, so i would suggest a pi headswap.

Take your stock NPI heads and send them to www.steenracing.com for some porting and valve work etc....get some blower cams and then get a Kenne Bell blower and that will do in the GTO....save up some money and then get yourself a forged shortblock and crank the boost up to 15psi or so and destroy the GTO....

PI swap, or P&P your NPI's and add a blower.

you'll wanna change gears if you go KB.
or you could do a centrifical.
KB has that fun instant torque slam!

Stock block is good to low 400HP
you could run WMI with a good tune and get more.

How much power are you looking for??

I also agree with what Vertstang said :)

Im looking to build a torque monster! Im not worried about quarter Mile times, I just wanna do wheel stands at every red light haha.

Figure out your heads,
bolt on a KB, and get a good staul convertor.

Your seats better have good head rests!!

Thats the one!!

If they would have had a kit for PI's about 4 years ago, I would have got one!

You'll wanna upgrade your NPI's or do the PI headswap.
the stock heads/intake manifold is restrictive!.

See where it says power numbersa are the same as the 99 if PI heads are used.

PI headswap is about 1400 bucks complete.
Link on my headswap thread.
I dunno much about porting ect the NPI's but I'd like to know how much that costs.

Keep that Goat in your rear view mirror!

Well it's relative.
Budget is a big deciding factor.

the stock rotating assembly can get between 400-500 rwhp. BUT, at that power level, much over a few second of detonation and your cast rods or pistons will break. (this info is from motor builders I've talked to, not my hard skull)
On the same note, there's guys out there running close to 500 rwhp - no problems.

The tune is KEY.
It's sooo worth it to pay for a good experienced tuner.

If you can afford to do the shortblock, go for it.
you can lower the compression and get better overall performance from the forced induction.

It's not bad to run a blower on the stock shortblock, then if you want to go more down the road, forge it up and turn up the boost.

Keep in mind the low end torque gaine on a KB will strain the rotating assembly more than a centrifical would, so I would stick at 400 HP on the stock shortblock.

What else to upgrade?
Here's the weak links of a GT.
Rods, Transmission, Axles.

400, 500, 550 - with hard driving.

Definately do sub frames if you don't have em, and some rear suspension upgrades would be a good idea to reduce axle deflection and put that power to the ground.

the blower kit will come with the fuel sysetm upgrades and all that stuff.
:)

Looks like the little GTO driver is gonna kiss your ass.

you don't need axles, but you can do them if you want.

I'd do LCA's instead and also recommend a panhard rod.
read up on MM's site if you wanna go over the benefits.

PI's
KB
Staul
Tune
Suspension?

what's your ring gear ratio?

;D

Well for now Im going to do with PI Swap, blower, and rods etc. etc first. Now I just gotta save my money now without buying stupid stuff like I've been haha. Hopefully I'll have the blower, and whatnot installed by next summer! Where can I buy some PI heads besides ebay?
