Hey everyone, my brother in law Dave and I are going to start off the mod frenzy on our 94 GT with a cat-back kit, give her some rumble. On the 97 I used to have I went the flowmaster route, so I want to do something different this time.

Anyone have sound clips of their 94-95 5.0s with exhausts on them? I want to go with something like Magnaflow, Borla, SLP... something different, rumbly, loud when you are on it but not too bad under cruising. The stock cat-back is just hideously quiet. (and yes eventually we will be going with headers and a mid pipe but a cat-back is gonna suffice for now)

Any sound clips or videos hook me up so I can get a better idea of what to get, and i have already looked at mustangexhaust.com and it didn't really help much.

thanks!

From what I have seen the cats do quite a bit to muffle the sound of the exhaust.
So don't be disappointed if the car is not as loud as you want after you replace the
cat back.

I had MAC headers and cat back installed, but couldn't really notice a difference
until I removed the rear two cats. I have since replaced the cat back with the
flowmaster American thunder system (the MAC system rusted out) and have been
quite pleased with the volume and sound of the exhaust. However, the downside is
it does sound like every other 5.0 mustang on the planet.

This has been my favorite mod so far! I put a Magnapac catback on my 94GT with the stock cats still on...I lOVE it! no drone at any speed, nice & deep rumbly but not too loud to attract LEO's...but at WOT you can hear me coming for blocks! I get a kick out of how it always turns heads when I fire my car up & people say nice car. I have had two people come over when I parked & ask what exhaust it was, they heard me coming & just had to find out.

It is still breaking in & just a hint of popping on decel & downshifting...I turn off the radio to listen to it, yet it is still mild enough to enjoy conversations on the freeway. I'd like to add a catted H pipe or prochamber to see how it would respond someday. For me this or the Borla Stingers are the best.

The setup i have no is quiet when cruising, but you def know when i touch the gas. Its Flowtech shorties, Bassani h-pipe, flowmaster super 40s.. I think im switchin to Bassani Longtubes, bassani x-pipe and slp cat back or the headers and midpipe with a borla side-exit

i have a buddy that swears by magnaflow, but i still say stick by the flows, i have the BBk equal lenght headers on my 95 with off road Xpipe and american thunder flows and it sounds like a symphony to me, just my opinion, sorry i have no sound clips of the car, i need to figure out how to take them and then figure out how to put them on here. :dunno:

Anyone have a clip of shorty headers, o/r X pipe and flowmaster cat-back? I'm pretty sure that's what we're doing.

What can I stand to gain going from fully stock exhaust to fully not-stock exhaust? 5-10 hp? Maybe a few more? Does the car noticably accelerate and/or rev quicker? Etc.. I figure either we do the full exhaust and not just bits and pieces.

Thanks all!

that would be cool. I'm really debating between flwomaster and magnaflow, I saw a stang like 'mine' drive by today and it had magnaflow on it and it sounded so much better to me than flowmaster (sorry) and also I may want to go a new route here

thanks

My car has an x pipe, flows (super 40's), and bbk shorties. I am not really a fan of it, i still have 2 cats on it is most of the reason it doesn't sound that good. Its sounds tough at idle but when i get on it it doesn't roar like i want it too, its too raspy. I am going to switch to an H pipe and the classic 2 chamber 40's. Nothin beats that sound, i know its what every other bloak has on his car but it just sounds so good, and you dont see many 5.0 mustangs anymore so its all good. Sorry I can't get a clip because my wife is gone with the camera. Ill try and get you one next week if you still want one.

i am really feeling the magnaflow. I heard this mustang rumble by with magnaflow pipes and I'm not sure what midpipe but I am in love with that growl over the flowmasters... how would magnaflow sound with an x pipe? regular magnaflow or how about magnapack?

yeah i knew that, i wanna switch to a catless h pipe, and the old school flows or some single chambers. I wanna deeper sound thats really lound. Aren't super 40's quieter than the regular 2 chamber 40's?
