i own a 98 gt, and recently my check engine light came on. then i noticed that when i punched it, it started to stutter at around 3500-4500 rmp. it does it in all the gears. i added injector cleaner and fuel additives, and the check engine light went out, but it still stutters, not as much as it did before but its still there. my car was in the body shop so im going to pull my fuel filter and clean it . any other ideas?

take the car to a local auto parts store and have them pull the code. thats what the check engine light is for. to let you know there is a problem so you can get it scanned and for them to be able to semi-accurately diagnose the problem.

+1 on getting the code pulled. But don't clean you fuel filter, replace it. They are not that expensive. Besides how are you going to clean it?

whoops, i meant air filter, not fuel filter. i got a new fuel filter recently, so unless the new one is faulty, i doubt thats the problem. my air filter is in my fender so i need to pull the inner fender off to get to it. im going to go get the code read at the shop i got my exhaust done, maybe they can tell me whats up

I have the same problem.
After I change spark plugs next week, I'll let everybody know the results.

Body shops are dust barns. You may be on the right track with the air filter but i would do like the pimp says and pull some codes. It dont cost nuthin and will give ya an idear whats goin on.
