how do you rotate crank and cam with balancer and timing cover off?

I recently installed my timing chain and I installed it a little off. Now I'm going back in and fixing it. How do I make sure that my crank key is perfectly straight so I can install everything straight up dot to dot.

Shove the crank pulley bolt back into its spot crank away.

No need to torque it down much just don't cross thread it....

So just thread that big crank bolt in and rotate clockwise?
