How many qts of oil for 98gt

Ok my 98 gt normally takes 6qts of oil but i changed it the day before yesterday and now i just check it and it says it is only half way full. What is the norm amount of oil for a sn95 gt

im pretty sure its only suppoe to be five...make sure your car isnt burning oil, what weight did you use?

I use castrol syntec full syn 10w30 as i am in florida. It has used 6 every since i have had it and itstays in my garage almost all the time, it does not smoke or leak any where, that is why i have no idea where my oil went this time. ANd i dont drive it hard i have never had it past 4k rpms and i change the oil every 2500 to 3000 and it takes me like 4 months to get that on it.

did you check the oil level right after you changed it?

Yeah and it said it was full but i had not ran it yet so there was nothing in the filter, I have only put about 50 miles on it since i changed the oil. So maybe now it will take 7 qts, because it was full then when the filter fills up now it is not

I could probably put 6.5 into my 96.. half in the filter and another six and it would probably read full.. as long as you're not going over there shouldn't be a problem..

yeah, too much oil is bad...but i dont see hw you are that low after 6 quarts...i put 5 and a 1/2 in mine and have no problems

i just changed my oil today and it only took 5 and i started it and let it run for a couple to check for leaks and whatnot before i backed it out and then checked it and it was right at the top of the fill mark. they are all the same size pans in the 96-98s right. well suposed to be

Exactly six... every time since I bought her new. Mobil 1 with K&N oil filter.

You are putting in a new oil filter at each change right?

yea and i work at pep boys (i know it sucks) but i change oil on mustangs all the time and i cant remember 1 that was 6

96gt is 6 fer sure. And i got a pi motor now and its still 6.

Says 6qt's in my owners manual. And its shows right on my dipstick with 6 qt's.
Maybe it changed after 97 or midyear of 97.... :dunno: My car was born in Aug. 1996, One of the 1st 97's.

mine has always been the same, when i fill her up i put 5 quarts in, start it to fill the filter, shut it off and top it up. i usually use between 5.5 - 6 quarts.
