how much horsepower will i lose??

well i just put in a 01 bottom end on my 98. my ported heads are messed up so im putting the 01 heads back on the car. how much horse power am i going to lose with the lost compression and the port work gone?? heres a list of my power mods:

densecharger to MAF intake
ported mass air
c&l intake tube
bbk 70mm tb
c&l upper plenum
underdrive pulleys
FMS shorty headers
off road X
alum d/s
msd coil packs and plugs. while im at it ill just tell you guys everything that i got on my car just for sh*ts and grins:

spec stage 2 clutch
fms 4.10's
posi rear end
moser 31 spline axles
subframes
welded axle tube
hurst billet short throw
tubular k member and a arms
strange adjust coil overs
and 125 shot of nitrous.

probably 20-25hp figuring 5-7 hp from the compression and the rest from the heads...

base or wheel HP?? if its wheel thats gonna suck!!!! going from 270 to 245-250. :santa_cry:

i got a book building 4.6/5.4 ford horsepower on the dyno. It has a test with port and polished pi heads against stock pi heads. I will post the results in a day or two on it. I believe it was a pretty good bit.

thanks i would really like to see what the numbers are gonna be on the loss. dam this blows.

Yep, you'll loose about 25 to the wheels.
but you won't loose any from compression?

should have some more low end.

well guess ill just suck up the HP loss. kinda ticks me off but hey as long as shes running thats all that matters. i leave for the desert in about 8 months or less. ill come back with about 7k to spend on the car. what to do what to do??? forge rotating assy and turbo maybe?? that will be another thread down the line of what to spend that money on.

Well that would depend on how much power you want to run.

Here's the HP limitations of you drive train.

450ish - rods break.

around 500 the transmission breaks

around 550 the axles go, or with super hard launches.


Forged engine and Blower/Trubo, that's about 7K, not including labor.
Unless you do a lot yourself. there's way's to save $$$.
the stock block is good to 1000 HP, so you could do internals and save some $$ that way.

Which blower are you looking at?

well i got the moser 31 splines in the back. i did plan on just doing internals. a VT forged rotating assy. i got the tubular k-member for the turbo kit. after going through a couple of engines i can totally do this myself. except the whole gaping and file fitting rings. havent done that yet. ive talked to hellion before and they got a 96-98 turbo kit in R&D right now. hopefully by the time i get back that will be out. ill probably go that route. just looking for a 67mm turbo or so. nothing to crazy. im gonna shoot for 450ish to the wheel.

Sounds like a good plan. I like the hellion kit a lot.
