I came across a deal on Craigslist. 2001 PI engine (Romeo heads) that needs bottom end bearings and bottom end piston caps for $350. Im just looking to pick it up for a PI swap basically. The guy doesn't want to part out the engine so he said he would sell me the whole engine for $350 which is what I think a set of PI heads and a PI intake is worth, right? Just looking for some opinions and some reassurance lol
slow90coupe what would you pay for a PI swap? I may make him a low offer but if he doesn't budge I'll stay away
slow90coupe you paid $150 for PI heads? You already have a PI intake on the sn95 right?
offer him 150 for the heads and 15 bucks for the scrap metal. Rods are junk, crank is probably junk, pistons are junk. If the block is not needing any work done to the mains its worth about 100 on CL in my area, but the blocks are a dime a dozen. Every pick-a-part has a cab/police car with one. Timing cover and valve covers have a little value but again not much.....
D3VST8R96GT he said it didn't hurt the crank. I don't really care about the bottom end anyway. If I had it I guess I could use it for parts. I may make an offer of 200 max
Youre still offering $200 for heads that dont like sparkplugs. Better off to go and pull the '04-up heads off that cab/taxi at the yank-a-part. If the crank and block is good, $300 is a bargain "if". Really no way of knowing unless you disassemble, measure, check. Parts are good to collect. We just want to help you maximize your dollar spent.
96blak54 PI heads dont like spark plugs? I've never heard that. So you're saying the '04 and up crown vic heads are better? Interesting. This is new information to me
The $150 I paid was for PI heads, cams, and intake. The intake is worth about $100, cams are basically worthless ($50 maybe), and the heads are probably worth $150-ish. Stuff is so common that it isn't worth hardly anything.
My engine died a few months back and i replaced it with another high mileage one from a lincoln town car... I had a spun bearing so the heads should be fine. The engine is located in Port Charlotte, FL at a friends house. I'll give it away.. you have to pick it up.
I paid $60 for pi heads and $20 for a pi intake. Also seen a pi motor with long tubes, tranny and aluminum driveshaft for $400. Me personally I would only do $200 at most.
