How not to take care of your AODE

Never change the atf, don't ever check its level, and forget about changing the filter. Make sure you dont do this every year and you'll have no clutches in no time. Neutral dropping it also helps it not last longer.

nope.......rule of thumb is if it has an aluminum case use atf.....if its cast iron/steel use gear oil

Thanks, I just need to get her looking good so I can start on the performance stuff. My plan is for her to be all stock on the outside, except for wheels, and maybe clear corners, and make her a performance beast.

Seems to me that gear oil was used up through like what, '83? With the advent of the WC T5, Mercon was spec'd.

My '86 Turbo T-bird was the first car I had to spec ATF in the gearbox.
