Hey Guys I was wondering how do I make my car (96 Mustang GT Manual) rev faster. Like when I rev it does drop fast like most newer cars. The Rev don’t necessarily hang. And The Idle RPM is 800 when the car already warmed up. Should I use an Idle Restriction plate to fix it? Or is it normal for these old stangs?
Thanks in advance.

You can certainly do the idle restrictor mod but, as you know, it is typically for a hanging idle.

Lightweight flywheel is the “cheapest” option to free up rotational mass. Next in line would be an aftermarket harmonic balancer and a light weight rotating assembly.

You can get retarded with these things. Electric accessories instead of belt driven. Plastic idler pulleys (maybe even tensioners?). Thinner oil will drag down the motor less, but to caution against that you will need to pay for used oil analysis to make sure you're not actually hurting the motor. And of course when you're on the power you can get an aluminum or carbon fiber driveshaft, two-piece rotors or even carbon rotors, forged wheels, lightened ring gear in the diff, etc., etc.

Money adds up though.

Will a aluminum driveshaft help as well?

I'm agreeing with the lightweight flywheel. I have one in mine. Fidanza. I have that and an Accufab TB/Plunum and mine is almost too responsive. lol. I bump the pedal and i have be ready for the thing to giddy up. lol. Like most will say, its the whole setup that effects it. I also have 3:73 rear end which i think is perfect for the street on the 4.6 2v. In my opinion.
