Well I installed a AFPR and bumped my fuel pressure up to 40 at idle (all connected). After doing so my car backfires when I rip from 1st to 2nd gear (I mean go up to 5500rpm and slam 2nd). Now I had my timing at 10* because I had a tweecer that I was going to use, but I sold it, so last night I put my timing up to the popular 14* and it took it easy, no detination with 91 Octaine and seeems to pull a bit harder.

Anyways do you think I should turn the fuel pressure down a bit to lets say 38? Also should I put my timing up a bit more?

Thanks in advance,
Matt

You need to set the fuel pressure to about 40 with the vaccume line disconnected at idle. You can go up or down a few psi to see what the car likes.

Unplug the line from the fuel pressure regulator.

Crank the engine, let it idle. Unplug the vaccume line from the regulator. Set your fuel pressure. Plug the line back up and go for a drive.

Your fuel pressure is most likely a little high right now. After you set it and plug the line back in the pressure will most likely drop a few psi's. Thats is fine.
