I’m considering 1.5” hubcentric wheel adapters/spacers on the rear. I have 3/4” now and want a bit wider. Will this require longer studs? I got plenty of threads on with the 3/4” but thought I’d better ask when doubling to the 1.5” adapters.

I found a place online with great prices (even haveMustang stamped on them!)and am hoping they have 1.5” in black.

Don’t do it. Get wider wheels and be safer.

Didn’t we try and talk you inter bigger wheels and tires once before when you said you wanted to fill out the wheel well a bit more???

Maybe not, maybe it was one of the 1,000 others who’ve asked the same thing in the past!!

You don’t kid. You remember quite well. I get in my right/left brain battle and the chips fall where they do.

in this case, in hindsight, I wish I had gone with offset tire sizes front/rear. I’m thinking now that wide spacers will make it look tacky instead of just putting some meats on the back

I’ve already initiated chat with “my tire guy” to get some 275/50x17’s

275s would have been a great choice, if you got the wider wheel that you now want. My rears are 275s and I love them

Not that 50's won't work, but 275/40-17 is the correct size to maintain proper diameter. (275/40-17 will also fit up front allowing for rotations.)

TrickVert,
I looked at the 40 series profile as well... and for the same reason you stated. Just can’t get my head wrapped around that low of a profile tire on the rear and I’m also concerned about rougher ride with 40’s versus a 59 series profile.
Hmmmmm...decisions, decisions!

One of the problems with wheel spacers is that they cause unusual stresses on wheel bearings and axle spines. If you really want a wide stance it would be better to look for a wider replacement rear axle.

If you guys DIDN’T bounce the banter back and forth, I wouldn’t be here! It’s what I do and what I’m used to. You should hear the shit we sling at work! So no worries ttocs and Evil. Keep the energy rolling!

Just ordered two Nitto 555 G2’s from Jegs. I prefer Summit, but Jegs had better bottom line price. 275/40x17’s.

When my guy (yeah, “I gotta guy”!) mounts them, I’m going to ask him to mount them on the front first so I can see if they fit like TrickVert mentioned. But, these two will go on the back... with or without the 3/4” hubcentric spacers that are currently on there.

Anxious to see them on and drive on them!
